Job Description:
Job Description: IDE Productivity Engineer / Developer Experience Evangelist
Overview

We are seeking a highly technical, curious, and people-centric engineer to join our Developer Experience organization. This role sits at the intersection of engineering excellence, developer productivity, and emerging AI-driven tooling. You will champion best-in-class usage of modern IDEs, build meaningful demos and internal tools, and help shape the next generation of development workflows across the enterprise.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who loves to experiment, teach, build, and inspire.
Key Responsibilities
Developer Productivity & Tooling (50%)
  • Build, enhance, and maintain internal tooling that supports the next evolution of developer productivity at Bank of America.
  • Develop real, production-relevant demos and prototypes that showcase effective use of IDE capabilities, AI-assisted development, and modern engineering workflows.
  • Explore and evaluate agentic toolkits and AI technologies (e.g., Copilot-style assistants) to determine:
    • How to select the right model for the right task
    • How to craft effective prompts
    • How to integrate AI into day-to-day development to accelerate output
  • Work across the full SDLC with a focus on improving efficiency, quality, and developer experience.
  • Contribute to initiatives such as dev containers, internal marketplaces, and new AI agents.
Evangelism, Enablement & Community Engagement (50%)
  • Lead internal "road shows" to demonstrate new tools, workflows, and best practices.
  • Create engaging videos, walkthroughs, and presentations that highlight productivity improvements and new capabilities.
  • Travel to internal teams and communities to showcase work, gather feedback, and drive adoption.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to engineering teams across multiple languages and ecosystems (Java, .NET, Python, NodeJS, C/C++, and more).
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
  • Deep understanding of how IDEs operate under the hood-such as Visual Studio, IntelliJ, Eclipse, or similar.
  • Strong technical foundation across software development concepts, tools, and languages.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, analyze workflows, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience working through the full software development lifecycle.
Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to teach, present, and inspire.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving instincts.
  • Eagerness to learn, experiment, and dive into new technologies.
  • Collaborative, approachable, and enthusiastic personality-culture fit is the most important aspect of this role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools or agentic frameworks.
  • Background in developer advocacy, enablement, or technical evangelism.
  • Familiarity with dev containers, cloud-based development environments, or internal developer platforms.
