Role: Senior Java / Google Cloud Platform / DevOps Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)

Role Description:

Isoft is seeking a versatile Senior Java Developer / Cloud Platform Engineer to join our engineering team on a contract-to-hire basis. In this role, you will bridge the gap between application development and modern cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable Java microservices, provisioning cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) using Terraform, and deploying/managing applications on Kubernetes (GKE).

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Development: Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable Java microservices (Spring Boot / Java 17%2B).

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Write, maintain, and modularize Terraform scripts to provision and manage Google Cloud Platform cloud resources and environments.

• Containerization & Orchestration: Package applications into Docker containers and orchestrate deployments using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

• CI/CD Automation: Build and support automated continuous integration and deployment pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Cloud Build).

• Cloud Architecture & Reliability: Ensure high availability, observability, security hardening, and performance monitoring across Google Cloud Platform services.

• Collaboration: Partner closely with DevOps, architecture, and core development teams to drive platform engineering standards.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

• Java Expertise: 5%2B years of core backend engineering experience with modern Java (Java 11/17/21) and frameworks like Spring Boot.

• Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform): Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform core services (GKE, Compute Engine, IAM, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage).

• Kubernetes (GKE): Deep working knowledge of container orchestration, Helm charts, ingress controllers, pod scaling, and deployment patterns.

• Terraform: Strong experience writing declarative IaC modules for provisioning Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.

• DevOps / CI/CD: Practical experience with Git-based workflows, automated pipelines, and cloud monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills :

• Relevant Google Cloud Platform certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect or Professional DevOps Engineer ).

• Certification in Kubernetes ( CKA / CKAD ).

• Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio/Anthos) and GitOps practices (ArgoCD / Flux).

• Exposure to database management (PostgreSQL, Cloud Spanner) and message queues (Kafka, Cloud Pub/Sub).
