HPE Systems Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Salt Lake City, UT who is looking for an HPE Systems Engineer to provide operational support for a mission-critical, high-availability HPE NonStop (Tandem) compute platform. This is a highly converged, fault-tolerant system that supports critical transaction processing workloads.

Summary:
The Systems Engineer will support the full technology stack for the platform, including operating system, data stores, utilities, capacity management, monitoring, automation, deployments, and replication. This role is responsible for the administration, stability, performance, and ongoing improvement of HPE NonStop (Tandem) platforms that support core business operations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate effectively across infrastructure, application, and security teams.

Responsibilities:
* Administer and support HPE NonStop (Tandem) systems
* Perform system configuration, upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance
* Monitor system health, capacity, availability, and performance
* Partner with application teams for deployments, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
* Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies
* Support disaster recovery (DR), business continuity, and high-availability architectures
* Implement system security policies, user access controls, and auditing
* Analyze and design technical solutions to address business needs
* Troubleshoot systems to improve reliability and overall system quality
* Identify, investigate, and propose solutions to complex technical issues
* Develop, test, and modify software to improve internal operating system efficiency
* Provide technical support for software and hardware failures
* Contribute technical expertise to information technology projects as needed
* Prepare and maintain system and operational documentation
* Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
* 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting HPE NonStop (Tandem) systems
* A combination of education and experience may be considered
* Experience with NonStop capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
* Advanced knowledge of programming, systems analysis, and related applications
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and management
* Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality work standards
* Demonstrated ability to lead or guide teams
* Experience contributing to the development of new methods or technical approaches

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
