Contract Length: 18 months (possibility of extension)
Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days in office required, days may vary month-to-month
Schedule: Standard 40-hour week with rotational weekend/late-shift support (every 4-5 weeks)
About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help build and mature a centralized SRE utility within our application platform organization. This role is ideal for someone with strong SRE expertise in a financial or banking environment, who can blend hands-on technical skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across middle and senior management.

You will drive improvements in reliability, automation, observability, performance, and operational excellence for mission-critical applications. The position combines software engineering practices with operational responsibility to enhance resilience, minimize toil, and shift operations left.

You will operate both independently and as part of a global team of ~18 (8 in the U.S., with Charlotte as the active hiring location).
Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets in partnership with product, engineering, and operational stakeholders.
• Develop and enhance observability and monitoring capabilities using tools such as AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, and Aternity.
• Identify, design, and implement automation solutions to reduce manual effort and operational toil.
• Lead and complete production readiness activities, including NFR validation and Permit-to-Operate processes.
• Provide application and platform support, including participation in rotational on-call, weekend, or late-shift coverage as required.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, troubleshooting efforts, and proactive reliability engineering initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with engineers and leadership, providing clear technical insights and recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of senior-level SRE experience, ideally in a financial or banking organization.
• 2+ years of Autosys experience.
• 2+ years supporting applications on Kubernetes or OpenShift (Google Cloud Platform exposure preferred).
• Working knowledge of Oracle and general database fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with observability tools:
  • AppDynamics
  • ThousandEyes
  • Aternity
• Strong technical communication skills with the ability to influence and engage with management.
• Ability to intelligently articulate and discuss prior work and resume experience.

• Position is a backfill.
