Job#: 3035352 Job Description: Sr. Manager - Technical Modernization Lead
Location: REMOTE
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manager-level Technical Leader to drive execution within a large-scale, multi-year modernization initiative involving multiple internal teams and strategic external partners. The successful candidate will operate as a hands-on technical program integrator, capable of understanding complex system modernization efforts and actively contributing to execution outcomes. This role will partner closely with engineering teams, internal delivery leads, and external vendors to connect technical strategy to execution, remove ambiguity, and accelerate delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the central technical integrator across multiple workstreams, connecting activities spanning application, infrastructure, DevOps, security, and data domains.
- Identify and manage cross-workstream dependencies, sequencing, and execution risks.
- Ensure alignment between internal engineering teams and external delivery partners.
- Engage directly with technical teams to understand modernization approaches, validate execution plans, and challenge assumptions.
- Provide practical, experience-based guidance on migration strategies and implementation approaches.
- Drive clarity and accountability across all participating teams, ensuring workstreams progress with clear deliverables and defined ownership.
- Proactively identify blockers and drive resolution across organizational boundaries.
- Influence and lead across a matrixed environment, providing direction to project managers, technical leads, and SMEs.
- Assess whether appropriate technical skillsets are aligned to each workstream and identify gaps in SME coverage or testing readiness.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years in enterprise technology delivery, with a focus on large-scale transformation initiatives. Proven experience in technical program leadership across multiple integrated workstreams. Strong background in legacy modernization, system migration, or platform transformation initiatives. Experience working in multi-vendor delivery environments, partnering closely with external integrators. Demonstrated ability to operate at both a technical depth (system-level understanding) and program-level orchestration (multi-team execution).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Mainframe and legacy system modernization (e.g., IDMS, CA Gen).
- Experience with DevOps transformation in legacy environments, migrating from traditional tools to modern pipelines.
- Knowledge of migration tooling, automation strategies, and code conversion utilities.
- Background in enterprise infrastructure transitions, such as security model changes or environment replatforming.
- Understanding of data and application migration at scale, including testing, validation, and cutover considerations.
Critical Skills
- Strong technical acumen and the ability to connect technical decisions to program execution.
- Problem-solving skills across complex, interdependent systems.
- Influence and leadership skills in matrixed environments.
- Clear communication across technical and leadership audiences.
- Comfort with ambiguity and evolving requirements.
