IT Project Manager- Software Deployment

A leading energy and industrial services firm in Houston is seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager to own the end-to-end execution of complex, multi-phased software deployment initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the central driver of project delivery — building and maintaining detailed project plans, managing cross-functional dependencies, and ensuring outcomes that align tightly with strategic business objectives. You will partner with business teams, IT stakeholders, and third-party vendors while maintaining executive-level visibility through structured status reporting and proactive issue escalation. This is a high-impact engagement where your ability to operate independently, manage risk, and maintain rigorous governance will directly shape the success of mission-critical software programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of complex, multi-phased IT software deployment projects from initiation through go-live.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets that reflect current status and drive accountability across all workstreams.

• Conduct regular executive-level stakeholder communications, including status reporting, risk escalation, and decision facilitation.

• Implement and enforce PMO best practices and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, quality, and auditability across project deliverables.

• Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks through structured risk management planning and strategic problem-solving.

• Coordinate integration and testing strategies across business teams, internal IT groups, and external vendors to ensure seamless system delivery.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of project management experience with a proven focus on IT software development and deployment projects — infrastructure-only backgrounds will not be considered.

• Demonstrated track record of independently delivering five or more complex, multi-phased critical projects from kickoff to successful completion.

• Hands-on proficiency with JIRA and Confluence as primary tools for project tracking, documentation, and team collaboration throughout the SDLC.

• Strong command of PMO frameworks, governance models, and structured project management methodologies applied in enterprise environments.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear business narratives.

• Holistic, 360-degree thinking paired with precision on critical details — able to hold the big picture without losing sight of the specifics that determine project success.
