Summary

Title: IT/OT Cybersecurity Project Manager Location: Houston, TX (Onsite 4-5 days) C2C/W2

Job Description:
The IT/OT systems primarily refer to Operational Technology environments that directly monitor and control grid operations and field infrastructure. These include systems such as:
Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS)
Energy Management Systems (EMS)
SCADA
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
Distribution Automation
Substation Automation
Outage Management Systems (OMS)
These systems operate the electric grid and gas infrastructure, so cybersecurity programs for IT/OT are focused on protecting critical operational reliability and safety, not just enterprise IT security. Below are additional JD responsibilities/points specifically aligned with Utility IT/OT environments. These are separate points you can add to the JD to make it more aligned with actual OT operations and to align when client interviews.
Additional JD Responsibilities (Utility IT/OT Cybersecurity Programs):
Coordinate cybersecurity initiatives across critical utility operational systems including SCADA, Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
Work closely with Distribution Engineering, Substation Engineering, and Control Center teams to ensure cybersecurity controls are implemented without impacting grid reliability or operational safety.
Lead coordination of cybersecurity activities for field operational assets including substations, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), and distribution automation equipment.
Facilitate risk assessments and security reviews for OT environments supporting electric distribution operations, ensuring alignment with grid reliability and operational continuity requirements.
Coordinate vulnerability assessment and remediation activities for OT systems, including patch management planning that aligns with operational maintenance windows and grid reliability constraints.
Support development and implementation of secure network segmentation strategies between IT and OT environments (e.g., control center networks, substations, field devices).
Coordinate implementation of secure remote access solutions used by engineers, vendors, and field technicians to access OT systems and substation assets.
Assist in developing cybersecurity incident response playbooks specific to OT environments, including procedures for cyber incidents affecting grid operations or control systems.
Coordinate tabletop exercises and operational drills involving OT cyber incident scenarios impacting grid operations, substations, or field automation systems.
Track cybersecurity risks associated with legacy OT systems and coordinate modernization initiatives to improve security posture without disrupting operational continuity.
