SAFe Scrum Master in San Francisco, CA - Only local to Bay area

6+ Months Contract

A SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) Scrum Master is a servant leader who primarily coaches and facilitates agile teams to become high-performing and deliver value while supporting the broader Agile Release Train (ART). Responsibilities include coaching the team in Agile and SAFe practices, facilitating team and Agile events, removing impediments, and collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.

Major Accountabilities:

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and facilitate agile events like daily team sync, iteration planning, and iteration retrospectives.
• Act as a facilitator for the Planning Interval (PI) planning event.
• Foster a transparent and safe environment that encourages open communication, collaboration, and constructive conflict resolution.
• Coach the team in agile principles, Scrum, Kanban, and train team to continuously improve practices and optimize value delivery.
• Assist the team to prepare for the ART ceremonies and deliver what they commit to during the PI planning event.
• Guide the team in self-management and self-organization to achieve their iteration goals and PI objectives.
• Manage and refine the team's backlog and effectively communicate requirements and priorities to the team.
• Identify and remove impediments that hinder the team's progress, escalating issues to the Release Train Engineer (RTE) or management when necessary.
• Represent the team in ART Syncs to manage dependencies with other teams.
• Coordinate with other teams and release trains to ensure alignment and track dependencies.
• Guide the team through the cycles of planning, execution, review, and reflection.
• Use metrics to track and improve team flow and performance and leverage reporting capabilities

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required. Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

Minimum Qualifications

• Certified Scrum Master
• Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience within an IT organization as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment
• Eight (8) years of relevant IT experience in on-premise and cloud software solutions
• Deep understanding of Agile principles and practices, including Scrum and Kanban
• Knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework and experience working within an ART is preferred
• High-level understanding of software architecture and software delivery lifecycle.
• Servant leadership approach and a mindset of continuous learning and adaptability.
• Excellent facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively across multiple teams and organizational layers.
• Proficiency with Agile Lifecycle tools specifically using Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
• Excellent business partnership with ability to achieve big picture objectives while paying attention to details.
• Proven ability to successfully juggle multiple priorities and willing to shift direction quickly when priorities change.
• Strong tactical, strategic thinking, problem solving skills, and leadership.

Desirable Qualifications

• Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master (SASM) is a plus
• Experience within a SAFe implementation or a large-scale enterprise context.
• Proven track record of building and supporting high-performing, self-organizing teams.
