Senior SD WAN Engineer Remote

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior SD-WAN Engineer for a remote 12month contract that could extend another 6 months.

Overview:
The client is seeking a Senior SD-WAN Engineer to lead the design and transformation of a global WAN environment. This role focuses on modernizing connectivity through SD-WAN, enabling secure, scalable, and high-performance networking across branches, data centers, and cloud platforms. You will combine hands-on engineering with leadership to drive architecture, automation, and alignment with cloud and digital initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
* Architecture & Design: Lead WAN/SD-WAN design across branch, data center, and cloud environments; drive transition from MPLS to software-defined networking
* Optimization: Develop SD-WAN policies (traffic routing, QoS, failover) to ensure performance, reliability, and security
* SASE & Security: Support adoption of SASE and Zero Trust by integrating secure access and cloud-based controls
* Cloud Connectivity: Enable and optimize networking across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments
* Implementation & Validation: Test, validate, and document solutions prior to deployment
* Project Leadership: Lead SD-WAN rollouts, migrations, and network modernization efforts
* Incident Support: Act as escalation point for complex issues; drive root cause analysis and improvements
* Automation: Utilize Python, Ansible, and APIs to streamline operations and enhance monitoring

REQUIREMENTS:
* 8-10+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on WAN and SD-WAN
* Hands-on experience with SD-WAN platforms (Cisco Viptela, VMware VeloCloud, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.)
* Solid understanding of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
* Experience designing and supporting enterprise WAN environments (MPLS, internet, hybrid)
* Knowledge of network security concepts, including SASE and Zero Trust
* Experience with cloud networking (AWS and/or Azure)
* Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and support high-availability environments
* Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred Skills:
* Relevant certifications (CCNP/CCIE, SD-WAN, cloud networking, etc.)
* Experience with automation tools (Python, Ansible, REST APIs)
* Background in large-scale network transformations or SD-WAN deployments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
