Wireless Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Erlanger, KY that is seeking a Wireless Engineer for a remote, contract role - typically 12 months with a 6-month extension option, potential conversion to full-time.

Summary:
The Wireless Engineer will support the design, deployment, and ongoing performance of enterprise wireless networks. This role focuses on delivering reliable, secure Wi-Fi connectivity across office, campus, and operational environments. They will work closely with senior engineers and network teams to implement solutions, troubleshoot issues, and improve overall wireless performance and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
* Wireless Deployment & Support: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of enterprise WLAN environments, including access points, controllers, and related infrastructure
* Performance Optimization: Monitor wireless performance and help troubleshoot issues related to coverage, interference, and connectivity
* Site Surveys & RF Basics: Support wireless site surveys and assist with coverage and capacity planning
* Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve wireless connectivity issues, including client access, roaming, and performance challenges
* Security & Access: Help maintain secure wireless access using protocols like WPA2/WPA3 and 802.1X
* Upgrades & Maintenance: Support network upgrades, patches, and hardware refresh initiatives
* Collaboration: Work with network, security, and infrastructure teams to support wireless-related needs across the organization
* Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3-6+ years of experience in network engineering, with exposure to wireless networking
* Hands-on experience with enterprise wireless platforms (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Mist, etc.)
* Basic understanding of RF concepts and wireless networking fundamentals
* Familiarity with wireless security protocols (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X)
* Experience troubleshooting network or connectivity issues
* Understanding of basic networking (IP addressing, switching, routing fundamentals)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred:
* Wireless certifications (CWNA or similar)
* Experience supporting Wi-Fi deployments or upgrades
* Exposure to network monitoring tools or ticketing systems
* Basic scripting or automation exposure is a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
