location: Telecommute
job type: Contract
salary: $60 - 65 per hour
work hours: 9am to 5pm
education: Bachelors
responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Management
- Develop a multi-phase communication roadmap that aligns with the technical migration timeline (Pre-conversion, Launch, and Post-conversion).
- Design a segmented messaging framework to address the unique concerns of members from both merging credit unions, ensuring brand consistency while acknowledging legacy differences.
- Establish a sequenced cadence for member touchpoints to prevent information overload while ensuring all regulatory and functional milestones are met.
- Define key member milestones and align messaging across all phases of the card transition to ensure a seamless transition experience.
Content Development & Execution
- Author the primary member notification letter, distilling complex technical changes into clear, reassuring, and actionable instructions.
- Draft a suite of digital communications, including follow-up emails, reminder templates, and social media copy designed to drive engagement and card activation.
- Build a comprehensive "Source of Truth" landing page, including detailed FAQs to proactively address member anxiety regarding fund access and card PINs.
- Create high-impact in-branch collateral, such as lobby signage and QR-code enabled "buck slips" to bridge the gap between physical visits and digital resources.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Facilitate iterative review cycles with credit union leadership and legal/compliance stakeholders to ensure all messaging is accurate and approved.
- Act as the primary liaison between the marketing team and the technical migration team to ensure communication triggers align with card delivery timelines.
- Empower frontline staff by providing "Member-Ready" talking points and scripts to ensure consistency between what a member reads in a letter and what they hear in a branch.
Quality Assurance & Risk Mitigation
- Audit all member-facing materials for tone and clarity, specifically focusing on reducing "friction points" where members might feel confused about their access to funds.
- Monitor and refine messaging based on initial member feedback or common questions identified during the early stages of the conversion.
- Ensure all creative assets for digital screens and social media are optimized for their respective platforms to maximize visibility and member awareness.

Merger & Acquisition (M&A) History: Experience navigating the sensitivities of merging two distinct organizational cultures and member bases.
Portfolio of Work: Ability to provide samples of member-facing letters, FAQs, and digital content that simplify complex technical or financial transitions.

Crisis Management & Empathy: Ability to anticipate "friction points" (e.g., card activation delays, PIN changes) and draft proactive messaging to mitigate support volume.

Financial Compliance Awareness: Basic understanding of regulations governing member notifications (e.g., Regulation E or truth-in-savings requirements) to ensure content is compliant.
Digital Content Systems: Experience working with website CMS platforms and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or HubSpot).

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Business.
Certifications: Professional certifications like the IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) or PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) are strong indicators of quality.
