Traffic Control TechnicianPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced
Traffic Control Technician to diagnose, service, install, and maintain automated traffic control and gate systems. This role is ideal for a self-motivated technician with strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience working with automated gate and barrier systems. The position includes a mix of service, preventative maintenance, and new installations.
This role involves
weekly travel, primarily throughout the
East Coast region (Boston, MA to Savannah, GA). While travel is expected, the client may initially focus on
local service work depending on project demand.
Top Skills - Required- Access control integration
- Networking systems (IP-based equipment, basic networking concepts)
- Electrical troubleshooting (low-voltage and control systems)
- Blueprint and schematic reading
- Wiring diagrams and system documentation
Secondary Skills - Nice to Have- Low-voltage certifications or manufacturer training
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience integrating traffic control systems with access control or networked platforms
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose, repair, and maintain automated traffic control systems including:
- Slide gates
- Barrier arms
- Spike systems
- Hydraulic and automated traffic barriers
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability and optimal performance
- Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Respond to service calls in a timely manner and document all work performed
- Install new traffic control equipment in compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Coordinate with customers, property managers, and site contacts to minimize service disruption
- Maintain a safe, organized work environment and comply with all company and OSHA safety policies
- Travel to multiple job sites weekly, with occasional overnight stays
Qualifications- 3+ years of hands-on experience servicing automated traffic control or gate systems
- Experience with systems and manufacturers such as:
- Magnetic Automation
- DKS (DoorKing)
- Delta Scientific
- Similar traffic control or gate equipment manufacturers
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions
Additional Skills & Certifications (Preferred)- Low-voltage electrical certifications or manufacturer-specific training
- Experience with access control system integration
- Networking or IP-based system experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Travel Requirements- Weekly travel throughout the East Coast (Boston, MA to Savannah, GA)
- Occasional overnight stays required
- Flexibility to support local service work initially, based on customer needs

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
