  • Develop test plans to de-risk new designs, including defining success criteria, measurement methods, required instrumentation, and data-analysis approaches.
  • Analyze test results and synthesize clear conclusions that inform future design iterations and architecture decisions.
  • Characterize performance, reliability, and failure modes of complex systems.
  • Support rapid prototype testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis in collaboration with design and mechanical engineering partners.
  • Provide day-to-day support for AMO physics laboratory operations, including equipment setup, maintenance, documentation, and safe lab practices.
  • Document test procedures, results, and recommendations in a clear, reviewable format.

You Must Have:

  • Minimum of an associate's degree
  • Minimum of 4+ years of direct, hands-on laboratory experience building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating electronic systems, complex optical systems, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, or experimental hardware.

  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

We Value:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in physics, applied physics, or a relevant engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, optical, aerospace, or systems engineering preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute laboratory tests, analyze data, and communicate technical conclusions.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems, ultra-high-vacuum systems, optical systems, RF/electrical test equipment, precision mechanical assemblies, or AMO physics experiments.
  • Experience designing test fixtures, prototype assemblies, or validation experiments for complex hardware.
  • Strong Python skills for data acquisition, automation, analysis, and visualization.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to clearly document test plans, results, and recommendations.
  • Ability to think critically, solve ambiguous technical problems, and make sound engineering judgments given uncertain or evolving requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to work closely with scientists, engineers, technicians, and program stakeholders.
  • Experience performing system audits, checkout procedures, or verification activities to ensure intended functionality, operation, and performance requirements are achieved.
