The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience investigating component failures, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.

In this role, you will focus on warranty failure analysis of HVAC-related components, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and service teams. You will help identify recurring issues, reduce warranty costs, and improve overall vehicle performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate returned automotive warranty parts and perform detailed failure analysis.

  • Identify root causes of component failures using methods such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, FMEA, and Fault Tree Analysis.

  • Analyze failed components related to automotive HVAC systems.

  • Perform component teardown and evaluate whether parts can be repaired, reworked, or should be scrapped.

  • Recommend containment actions and corrective/preventive measures.

  • Work with design engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing, and service teams to resolve product issues.

  • Review engineering drawings, GD&T, material specifications, tolerance stack-ups, and validation reports.

  • Use warranty databases and analytical tools to identify recurring failures and quality trends.

  • Prepare technical reports, failure analysis summaries, and recommendations for engineering leadership.

  • Participate in supplier reviews and technical discussions to improve component quality.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on warranty cost reduction and product reliability.

  • Follow automotive quality processes and standards, including APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and PFMEA.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.

  • 5–10 years of experience in automotive warranty analysis, product engineering, quality engineering, or failure analysis.

  • Strong understanding of automotive mechanical systems and engineering fundamentals.

  • Hands-on experience with component teardown, diagnostics, and failure investigation.

  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, materials, and reliability engineering.

  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, engineering specifications, and test reports.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication and technical documentation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.

  • Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and field data analysis.

  • Experience with warranty management systems and quality tools.

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or statistical analysis.

  • Understanding of hybrid and electric vehicle powertrain systems is a plus.
