Duration: 6-12+ month contract
Location: Falls Church, VA -> local travel required to nearby sites, must have reliable transportation
Key Responsibilities:- Vendor Coordination: Secure support and replacement devices by coordinating with vendors.
- System Management: Ensure operating systems and software components are properly installed, maintained, and supported across multiple platforms.
- Problem Resolution: Analyze and troubleshoot high-severity problems, directing corrective actions as needed.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding and working knowledge of parallel redundant UPS systems, standby diesel generators, large chilled water systems, and automated controls troubleshooting and setup.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate documentation of policies, procedures, and standards for the installation, configuration, support, maintenance, and recovery of data center systems.
- Communication: Communicate problem/resolution statuses to vendors in a timely and professional manner through written communication.
- System Deployment: Recommend proper deployment procedures and operational guidelines for major systems running in the data center.
Technical Responsibilities:- Network Support: Set up and maintain network connections, monitor and address connectivity and security issues, and install/configure basic network equipment, including patch panels and blades.
- Data Backup and Security: Implement data backup and recovery solutions, maintain security standards, and address vulnerabilities.
- Asset and Document Management: Track IT assets and life cycles, document configurations, and procedures.
- End User Support: Provide technical assistance and training to end users on hardware and software use.
- Wireless Networks: Install and configure access points for wireless networks.
- Network Equipment: Install and configure network equipment such as Cisco and Aruba switches and routers, Palo Alto devices, and manage electrical connections.
- ClearPass Policies: Create and manage ClearPass policies for MAC and IP address authentication.
- Cabling: Secure Ethernet cabling, including cross-connections, and run fiber connections.
Qualifications:- Demonstrated ability to act independently with good judgment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to direct corrective actions.
- Thorough understanding of data center systems and network operations.
- Excellent written communication skills for vendor coordination and problem resolution.
