We are seeking a strategic and experienced Payroll Director to provide leadership and oversight for all payroll functions. This role partners closely with Finance to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations while maintaining strong internal controls. The Payroll Director fosters cross-functional collaboration, safeguards confidential information, and promotes a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

How you will make an impact:

  • Direct and oversee all payroll operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise payroll leadership and staff, fostering high performance, professional development, and a strong customer-service culture.
  • Ensure alignment between payroll and HR data, maintaining accurate records for personnel changes, pay rates, benefits, and employee information.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain payroll policies, procedures, SOPs, financial controls, and audit trails to ensure data integrity and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax regulations, year-end reporting requirements, and external audit standards; monitor legislative changes and advise leadership on required actions.
  • Oversee preparation of payroll reports for senior leadership, Finance, auditors, and regulatory agencies while keeping stakeholders informed of regulatory updates.
  • Lead vendor selection, evaluation, and management of third-party payroll providers; identify automation opportunities and recommend system enhancements in partnership with HR and IT.
  • Manage payroll discrepancy resolution and cross-functional collaboration, safeguarding confidential information and maintaining employee trust.

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience from $ $125,000?$140,000 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus

What you will need:

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll management experience in a medium-to-large organization, with demonstrated ability to lead payroll and tax-related projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Workday Payroll, MasterTax, ADP, and strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), reporting tools, and payroll systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and provincial payroll regulations, including garnishments and payroll tax compliance; experience interacting with tax agencies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, work independently, and maintain strict confidentiality.
