Retail POS Business Analyst

Role Overview
We are seeking a Retail POS Business Analyst with strong experience in Point of Sale (POS) platforms and payment systems to support enterprise retail technology initiatives.
The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, and engineering teams to gather requirements, define business processes, and support the implementation of POS and payment integrations across retail systems.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Functional Analysis
- Gather and document business and functional requirements across multiple stakeholders and prioritize them for delivery.
- Identify and document business processes and workflows, including process maps reflecting relationships between the operating model and supporting technology platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, challenges, and future state objectives.
- Evaluate current systems, processes, and roadmaps to identify opportunities for improvement.
Solution Design & Delivery
- Work closely with engineering teams to design technical solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Manage dependencies and incorporate architectural considerations into requirements.
- Oversee implementation activities to ensure solutions are delivered on time and within scope.
- Participate in system testing phases and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Documentation & Reporting
- Create and maintain documentation such as:
- Business Requirement Documents (BRD)
- Functional specifications
- Test scripts
- Process documentation
- Utilize tools such as JIRA and Confluence for requirements management and collaboration.
- Update technical specifications based on testing results, prioritized defects, and post-release insights.
Data Analysis & Insights
- Analyze operational and transactional data to identify trends, insights, and improvement opportunities.
- Create reports and dashboards that support business decision-making.
Deployment & Operational Readiness
- Support application deployment communication and release readiness.
- Ensure systems meet availability standards and operational SLAs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Facilitate alignment across business partners, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.
- Lead discussions and drive consensus across multiple teams within project constraints.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst supporting enterprise IT projects.
- Proven experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting at least two end-to-end POS implementations as a Business Analyst.
- Strong understanding of payment systems, payment gateways, and payment processors.
- Experience with data integrations (APIs, file-based integrations) across enterprise systems.
- Ability to analyze complex functional flows within SaaS applications and integrated systems.
- Experience creating technical specifications and documentation for large enterprise initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of retail technology ecosystems, including:
- POS systems
- Inventory management systems
- eCommerce platforms
- Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, and BI platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development lifecycle processes.
- Working knowledge of:
- CI/CD pipelines
- Application monitoring and alerting
- Containerized environments
- Cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
