Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Customer Quality Engineer to support major automotive OEM customers, including Ford and GM programs. This onsite role serves as the primary quality liaison between customers and internal engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams, ensuring customer satisfaction, quality performance, and successful program launches.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment, strong customer-facing skills, and expertise in quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, and launch support activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary customer quality representative for Ford, GM, and other automotive OEM programs.
  • Lead customer issue resolution efforts, including containment actions, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), launch readiness reviews, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Coordinate quality activities between customers, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and operations teams.
  • Monitor customer complaints, warranty issues, returns, rejects, and quality performance metrics.
  • Develop, maintain, and update quality documentation, control plans, and launch-related deliverables.
  • Support product validation, trial builds, process audits, and part approval activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive quality engineering.
  • Experience supporting Tier 1 automotive manufacturing operations.
  • Customer-facing quality experience working directly with automotive OEMs.
  • Experience supporting new product launches and automotive program launches.
  • Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, 8D problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in Shelbyville, TN.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Ford, GM, or other major automotive OEM customers.
  • HVAC assembly manufacturing experience.
  • Injection molding and/or large-scale assembly manufacturing experience.
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent).
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification.
