Manufacturing Engineer II

Direct Hire

Shelbyville, TN 37160 (Hybrid)

Job Description:

Automotive manufacturing engineering role focused on launch support, continuous improvement, production troubleshooting, tooling/equipment support, and manufacturing process optimization within a Tier 1 environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support new product launches and manufacturing process development
  • Develop manufacturing documentation including routings, work instructions, PFMEA/process documentation
  • Support tooling and equipment sourcing/implementation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on:
    • Scrap reduction
    • Downtime reduction
    • Efficiency improvements
    • Labor/manning optimization
  • Provide day-to-day production line support and troubleshooting
  • Conduct time studies and routing maintenance
  • Support equipment improvements, error proofing, and standardization
  • Assist with run-at-rate activities and manufacturing readiness
  • Coordinate with suppliers on tooling/equipment purchases
  • Support quality and process deviation documentation


Ideal Candidate Background:
  • Tier 1 automotive supplier experience
  • High-volume manufacturing environments
  • Launch-focused manufacturing engineering experience
  • Hands-on floor support/process engineering background
  • Strong troubleshooting and continuous improvement mindset


Preferred Industry Experience:
  • Assembly manufacturing
  • Welding/robotics
  • Injection molding
  • Stamping
  • Automated manufacturing environments


Preferred Technical Experience:
  • APQP
  • PFMEA

  • Lean Manufacturing

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • 1-4 years of manufacturing engineering experience

OR
  • Master's Degree with 1-3 years of experience.
