Role Overview
This position is for a Senior Software Engineer focused on building a high-impact React Native Bluetooth SDK. The role involves creating a unified orchestration layer for multiple vendor-specific protocols. You will be responsible for designing and implementing the Android Bluetooth orchestration layer, simplifying complex hardware interactions, and ensuring a reliable experience for developers. This is not a standard application integration role; it requires direct experience with the BLE protocol layer and ownership of a production SDK as a product.
Key Responsibilities
- - Abstract vendor-specific Bluetooth protocols into a single, reliable SDK API.
- Architect and implement the Android Bluetooth orchestration layer to manage concurrent vendor SDKs.
- Handle complex BLE state management, pairing flows, and data throughput on the Android stack.
- Work with React Native developers to expose native Bluetooth/BLE functionality to the JavaScript layer.
- Own the lifecycle of a production-ready SDK, focusing on stability, API design, and backward compatibility.
- Design and implement BLE communication layers, including pairing, retries, and error recovery.
- Debug discovery, provisioning, and hardware-level issues in a production environment.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:- Deep proficiency in Kotlin and Java with a focus on SDK development.
- Expert-level knowledge of the Android Bluetooth SDK, including GATT profiles, scanning, and connection management.
- Direct experience working with the BLE protocol itself, beyond simple SDK integration.
- Strong understanding of Bluetooth and BLE protocols and hardware-to-software communication.
- Experience with hardware-facing Bluetooth work and packet-level debugging.
- Recent ownership of a production SDK as a product, not just as an application feature.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with React Native, specifically building Native Modules or TurboModules.
- Experience working directly with hardware such as payment pucks, scanner sleds, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi.
- Familiarity with BLE packet tracing and low-level log analysis.
