Product Owner - Insurance Products & Benefits ART

Location: Remote

Role Overview

We are seeking a contract Product Owner to lead a cross-functional Agile team. This role is focused on building and enhancing a modern data lake using Databricks to support insurance product and benefits capabilities. The position will bridge business needs, end-user insights, and technical execution to deliver scalable, high-quality data products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Product Owner for an Agile team focused on Databricks, operating within an Insurance Products & Benefits ART.
  • Own, define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog to align with business objectives and the overall roadmap.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories with detailed acceptance criteria.
  • Work cross-functionally with architects and engineers on data lake design, ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, data engineering, and platform teams.
  • Monitor and communicate progress, risks, and dependencies across the ART.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve data usability, accessibility, and product capabilities.
Required Qualifications
  • Product Owner experience in an Agile environment, ideally SAFe.
  • Experience supporting data platforms or data lake initiatives.
  • Hands-on exposure to Databricks or similar technologies.
  • Experience in the healthcare or insurance domain, preferably related to benefits or payer systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in backlog management and writing user stories.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with both business and engineering teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, data engineering concepts, ETL/ELT, and data modeling.
  • Experience supporting analytics or reporting use cases.
  • Background in Medicare or Medicaid systems.
  • SAFe PO/PM certification or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
  • Experience with Jira Align and Azure DevOps.
Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated pay range for this position is $40.00/hr to $46.00/hr.
