Oracle Database Application Analyst



    About the Role

    Corporate Finance is seeking an Oracle Database Application Analyst with at least two years of hands-on experience. The Financial Systems Database team maintains the data warehouse that supports financial and valuation reporting for life insurance products.

    In this role, you will enhance and support internal financial reporting database applications that drive key business decisions. You'll work on product implementation, system enhancements, automation of reporting processes, and monthly data warehouse loads. You will also develop controls, produce automated and ad hoc reports, and translate complex business and actuarial requirements into clear technical solutions. This position includes both application development and production support (L2 and L3 support for Oracle database applications).
    Responsibilities
    • Maintain and enhance internal financial reporting database applications for life insurance products.
    • Support new product implementations and upgrades to existing applications.
    • Automate reporting processes and ensure timely, accurate monthly data warehouse loads.
    • Develop data controls, automated deliverables, and ad hoc analyses.
    • Translate complex business and actuarial requirements into technical specifications.
    • Collaborate with business, finance, and technology partners to deliver enhancements.
    • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support for Oracle database applications.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in database application development or database administration.
    • Proficiency with Oracle (11g/19c), including SQL, PL/SQL, SQLPlus, and SQLLoader (minimum two years).
    • Strong experience with Linux, including shell scripting (minimum two years).
    • Experience using TOAD (minimum two years).
    • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, macros).
    • Familiarity with scheduling tools such as ESP or Stonebranch UAC (preferred).
    • Knowledge of MS Access and Python (preferred).
    • Understanding of life insurance products (preferred).
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with urgency and adapt to shifting priorities.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical abilities.
    • High attention to detail and strong validation/quality-control skills.
