Senior Business Analyst – Education / Department of Education

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to serve as the bridge between the business/program community and the software development team. The ideal candidate will be involved throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements elicitation and analysis through implementation and enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Elicit and analyze business and system requirements through interviews, JAD sessions, workflow analysis, document reviews, surveys, and use cases.
• Translate requirements into clear business/functional requirements, user stories, use cases, SRS documentation, wireframes, and mockups.
• Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement and re-engineering.
• Manage requirements, traceability, and change control throughout the SDLC.
• Use Jira and Modern Requirements to track requirements, changes, and project status.
• Facilitate meetings and effectively communicate with both business and technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with development, QA, program, and customer teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor peers and promote Business Analysis best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience eliciting requirements and developing system requirements.
• 8+ years of experience working with SDLC methodologies.
• 8+ years of experience in business process re-engineering and process flow improvement.
• 8+ years of experience developing user stories and use cases.
• 8+ years of experience designing wireframes/mockups using UX best practices.
• 8+ years of strong communication, facilitation, documentation, and organizational skills.
• 4+ years of experience with Atlassian Jira.
• 2+ years of experience with Modern Requirements.
• Education agency / Department of Education experience is a MUST.

Preferred Skills

• Strong understanding of requirements management and traceability.
• Experience working with government or public-sector programs.
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
