Description
Seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Digital Communications Product Manager (Contract) to support its multi-channel customer communication experiences including email, SMS, and push notifications. This contractor will step into a high-impact, high-visibility space responsible for creating, optimizing, and delivering personalized, event-triggered communications that directly influence customer engagement and vehicle sales.
This role fills an immediate gap while they evaluates the future operating model for its partnership and the long-term structure of the Marketing Cloud Product team. The ideal candidate brings expertise in digital marketing communications, modern signal-based engagement, customer journey orchestration, and cross-functional execution in a complex stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Communication Strategy & Execution
Own and manage multi-channel communication programs across email, SMS, and push notifications.
Develop journeys triggered by customer actions (e.g., new car availability, finance results, abandoned carts, favorited cars, saved searches, vehicle recommendations, nurture sequences).
Partner closely with Strategy, Design, and Analytics teams to create compelling, emotionally resonant messages and content that help customers buy cars and stay engaged.
Maintain communication health, including monitoring deliverability, unsubscribe trends, cadence fatigue, and compliance.
Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery
Create, manage, and prioritize the team backlog in alignment with business goals and customer experience outcomes.
Operate in a two-week Agile sprint cycle with clear key results and measurable outcomes.
Translate strategy into precise, detailed requirements that engineering partners can execute ensuring clarity, accuracy, and feasibility.
Support other CarMax teams that rely on Marketing Cloud to deliver their communications.
Operational & Organizational Excellence
Maintain exceptional organization, follow-through, and deadline management with multiple concurrent workstreams.
Identify and proactively remove obstacles to ensure timely delivery of communication experiences.
Apply product best practices such as customer discovery, user testing, iteration, and impact validation even as the team evaluates shifting from traditional product development to a more content-focused model.
