Location: Columbus, OH
Work Arrangement: Onsite Only
Employment Type: Contract (Initial duration with extension through June 2027).
Interview Mode: In-person

Core Responsibilities

Legacy Redevelopment: Analyze existing COBOL codebases and re-engineer them into high-performance Java (8/11/17) applications.
Technical Leadership: Serve as the lead developer, establishing coding standards, refining best practices, and mentoring IT staff.
Full-Stack Development: Design, code, and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and database integrations (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL).
Agile Collaboration: Work in an iterative manner to provide regular evidence of progress, coordinating with BWC subject matter experts and technical stakeholders.
Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including flowcharts, narratives, and operational support manuals.

Required Experience & Skills

Java Mastery: 10+ years of professional experience in Java solution development within Windows environments.
Backend Expertise: 10+ years of hands-on experience with Java Persistence API (JPA) and SQL.
Integration: 10+ years of experience building and consuming RESTful web services.
Testing: 10+ years of experience with JUnit for stability and functionality testing.
Lifecycle Management: Proven ability to propose and implement software project lifecycle solutions and documentation.
Soft Skills: Excellent oral and verbal communication skills to resolve feasibility problems with business personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

COBOL Knowledge: Highly desired experience in reading or understanding legacy COBOL code.
Front-End: Experience with JavaScript frameworks and Single-page Application (SPA) solutions like Angular.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
DevOps: Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
