Role: Senior Data Scientist

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to support a proof-of-concept initiative leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP) and advanced machine learning techniques to enhance decision-making processes.
This role is critical in demonstrating how modern AI technologies can improve outcomes and optimize resource utilization. The ideal candidate will lead model development, evaluate algorithmic trade-offs, and ensure solutions are transparent, scalable, and statistically sound.
Key Responsibilities
Development Framework
Define and establish a framework for executing technical tasks
Identify milestones, deliverables, and dependencies
Assess risks and define mitigation strategies
Current Process Analysis
Participate in discussions to understand existing workflows and decision-making processes
Identify and prioritize gaps based on impact and efficiency
Solution Design & Development
Lead development of solutions using NLP and machine learning
Define functional components and their contributions
Evaluate architectural and computational trade-offs (performance, scalability, security)
Assess various data sources (existing, simulated, or alternative datasets)
Document the final solution for transparency
Design Reviews
Establish and lead design review processes
Evaluate:
Functional effectiveness
Technical and security risks
Data quality and usability
Testing and validation strategies
Ensure proper documentation
Proof-of-Concept Implementation
Oversee prototype development and execution
Conduct regular status updates and reviews
Provide guidance to resolve technical challenges
Demonstration Support
Support demonstration sessions showcasing the prototype
Capture stakeholder feedback and insights
Roadmap Contribution
Assist in building a roadmap for scaling and integration of the solution
Agile Collaboration
Contribute to Agile development processes to ensure timely delivery
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor s / Master s / PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related field
Experience working on federal or large-scale data science programs
Strong expertise in machine learning, NLP, and statistical modeling
Hands-on experience in data engineering and large-scale data processing
Proven ability to build and optimize models handling high-volume datasets
Experience working with domain-specific datasets (e.g., social systems, public sector, or similar structured data environments)
Strong understanding of algorithm trade-offs (accuracy, scalability, performance)
Experience designing end-to-end ML solutions from scratch
Ability to model complex human decision-making processes into computational systems
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Nice to Have
Experience with geospatial analysis, pattern analysis, or network modeling
Background in decision intelligence systems or predictive analytics
Experience working with sensitive or regulated datasets
