Role: JIRA Governance & Platform Specialist

Location: Miami, FL (Hybrid – 4 days/week onsite)


Role Overview:

We are seeking a JIRA Governance & Platform Specialist to support and administer the Atlassian ecosystem, primarily JIRA and Confluence, within a structured and governance-driven environment.

This role focuses on day-to-day platform administration, request fulfillment, and operational support under a managed services model. The specialist will execute configurations, manage user access, and ensure adherence to established governance standards defined by the Center of Excellence (CoE).

This position is execution-focused and does not involve ownership of platform strategy, architecture, or governance design.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Request Management & SLA Delivery

  • Handle incoming administration requests through a centralized ticketing system
  • Prioritize and deliver requests in line with defined SLAs
  • Maintain accurate tracking and provide timely status updates
  • Escalate requests that fall outside defined scope or governance policies

2. JIRA Platform Administration

  • Configure and maintain JIRA projects, issue types, workflows, and schemes
  • Manage fields, screens, and automation rules within approved standards
  • Ensure consistency across project configurations
  • Support enhancements aligned with predefined governance guidelines

3. Confluence Administration

  • Create and manage spaces, templates, and page structures
  • Maintain permissions and access controls at space and page levels
  • Ensure content organization aligns with enterprise standards

4. User Access & Security Management

  • Provision and deprovision user access
  • Manage roles, groups, and permission schemes
  • Troubleshoot access-related issues
  • Ensure compliance with access governance policies and audit requirements

5. Governance & Compliance

  • Execute all configurations in alignment with established CoE standards
  • Identify and flag non-compliant requests
  • Maintain uniformity across JIRA and Confluence environments
  • Support platform cleanup and standardization initiatives

6. Operational Support & Troubleshooting

  • Investigate and resolve user-reported issues
  • Address configuration inconsistencies and system errors
  • Perform root cause analysis where applicable
  • Escalate platform-level issues to appropriate teams

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations and changes
  • Ensure all activities are properly logged in the ticketing system
  • Support reporting needs such as:
    • Request volumes
    • SLA adherence
    • Backlog tracking
    • Request categorization

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering JIRA and Confluence
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Workflows, schemes, and permissions
    • Automation rules
    • Confluence space management
  • Experience with Atlassian Cloud or Data Center environments
  • Familiarity with SLA-driven support models
  • Ability to work within structured governance frameworks
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • High attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Atlassian certifications (e.g., JIRA Administrator)
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale environments
  • Background working in managed services, offshore, or shared services models
  • Exposure to governance-controlled IT platforms
