Automation Engineer | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with multiple companies in Wayland seeking experienced Automation Engineers. These organizations value long-term fit and are looking for professionals who bring both skill and alignment. By joining our network, you gain access to opportunities tailored to your goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing automation systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for automation systems.
  • Conduct FAT/SAT for new automation equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and industrial control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with robotics (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA) and vision systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex automation solutions.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) for quality inspection and guidance.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., Ignition SCADA, SQL databases, Power BI) for OEE and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in programming industrial robots (e.g., KUKA, FANUC, ABB) for material handling and assembly.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems (ICS).
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and their application in automation projects.
