Automation Engineer | Allegan, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, P&IDs, and software specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for automation-related issues.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and industry best practices.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, or controls engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Experience with vision systems, sensors, and other industrial automation components.
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot automation systems from concept to commissioning.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with machine vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • Familiarity with industrial IoT platforms and data analytics tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python for automation tasks and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
