Position Purpose
The BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and semantic models that support business decision-making. This role operates with a high degree of independence, owning end-to-end technical delivery of accurate and well-designed analytics solutions. The BI Developer works closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data models and reporting solutions.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain semantic models, reports, and dashboards aligned with business requirements and data architecture.
Build analytical models, reports and dashboards to present KPIs and business insights, ensuring usability and alignment with stakeholder needs.
Utilize Git-integrated workflows within Microsoft Fabric that version control, CI/CD, and automated testing processes.
Optimize report performance through advanced DAX, efficient data modeling, and best practices in report design.
Ensure adherence to data governance, quality, and security standards across platforms in compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.
Partner with analysts, developers, and business users to deliver reporting solutions. Contribute to and help enforce BI standards, naming conventions, and best practices.
Maintain clear documentation for reports, dashboards, and measure definitions to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Key Competencies and Skills (Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities)
Ownership: Independently delivers high-quality BI solutions and drives work from concept to production. Adhere to established architecture in regards to data modeling, report design, and performance optimization.
Collaborates: Partners with analysts, developers, and business users to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions aligned to stakeholder needs.
Resourcefulness: Applies best practices (including star schema model design, DAX optimization and report design techniques) and leverages Microsoft Fabric workflows to troubleshoot performance, maintainability, and delivery needs within defined standards.
Instills Trust: Ensures confidence in analytics outputs by following data governance, quality, and security standards and maintaining clear documentation for dashboards, reports, and measure definitions.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Proficiency in SQL and DAX
Effective communication and presentation skills to convey data insights effectively.
Understanding of business processes and key performance metrics.
Experience working with ERP and/or CRM systems; Salesforce preferred.
Experience in a production/manufacturing environment a plus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements (Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities)
Bachelor's degree in information systems, business analytics, finance, accounting, or related business field.
3-5 years of experience in a BI or Data Analyst role, with a focus on cloud-based solutions, star schema data models, and reports.
Experience building semantic models, reports and dashboards from the ground up using Microsoft Power BI.
Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts (e.g. star schema data modeling)

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
