Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Automation Architecture

  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture of the organization''s intelligent automation ecosystem — from platform infrastructure and Orchestrator topology through integration patterns, security controls, and AI/ML service design.
  • Define and govern the automation reference architecture: standard frameworks, integration blueprints, data handling patterns, and environment topology for all UiPath deployments.
  • Design multi-tenant Orchestrator environments with appropriate folder hierarchies, robot provisioning models, asset/credential governance, and high-availability configurations.
  • Architect hybrid automation solutions that combine UiPath UI automation, API-first integration (Epic FHIR/Interconnect, payer APIs), structured data extraction (Clarity/Caboodle), and AI/ML-powered processing.
  • Evaluate and recommend the optimal automation approach for each use case — UI automation, API integration, Document Understanding, AI Center ML models, or GenAI/LLM augmentation — based on resilience, maintainability, and total cost of ownership.
  • Lead technical due diligence for new automation platforms, vendor integrations, and CoE technology investments; produce architecture decision records (ADRs) with rationale, trade-offs, and risk.

Epic EHR Integration Architecture

    • Design authoritative integration patterns between UiPath and Epic — selecting among UI automation, FHIR R4/Interconnect REST APIs, Chronicles data extracts, Clarity/Caboodle EDW queries, Cogito reporting outputs, and HL7 v2.x messaging based on stability, data freshness, and upgrade resilience.
    • Architect Epic FHIR R4 API integration workflows: defining OAuth 2.0 / SMART on FHIR authentication patterns, resource selection (Patient, Encounter, Observation, Claim, Coverage, etc.), pagination handling, and error/retry strategies.
    • Design upgrade-resilient automation that minimizes impact when Epic environments move to new releases — through API-first approaches, selector abstraction layers, and configuration-driven UI element management.
    • Advise clinical informatics and Epic analyst teams on automation feasibility, integration risk, and configuration dependencies during Epic upgrade planning and new module rollouts.
    • Establish governance protocols for Epic test environment access, robot credentialing in Epic, and Epic-specific data masking requirements for non-production automation testing.
    • Design automation architecture for complex provider RCM workflows — from charge capture and claim scrubbing through payer API-based prior authorization, eligibility verification, remittance processing, and denial management — including multi-system orchestration patterns.

CoE Governance & Standards

  • Establish and own the CoE''s technical governance framework: coding standards, design pattern library, reusable component catalogue, documentation requirements, and peer review processes.
  • Define the automation solution classification model — categorizing automations by complexity, risk, PHI exposure, and integration depth — and prescribe the appropriate architecture pattern and review gates for each category.
  • Chair or co-chair the Automation Architecture Review Board (ARB): reviewing and approving all new solution designs above a defined complexity threshold before development begins.
  • Author and maintain the CoE''s technical reference documentation: architecture blueprints, integration patterns, security controls catalogue, and onboarding guides for new senior developers.
  • Define and govern the CI/CD pipeline standard for UiPath — including Git branching strategy, automated testing gates (UiPath Test Suite), package promotion workflows, and rollback procedures.
  • Establish the CoE''s reusable component library strategy: defining scope, versioning, ownership, testing requirements, and deprecation policies for shared libraries used across the development team.

Security, Compliance & Risk Architecture

  • Own the security architecture for all automation solutions — designing PHI data-handling patterns, role-based credential management (Orchestrator Asset Store / CyberArk), audit logging strategies, and network segmentation requirements.
  • Lead HIPAA Security Rule compliance design for automation: ensuring bots operate under least-privilege principles, PHI in transit and at rest is appropriately encrypted, and audit trails satisfy breach investigation requirements.
  • Architect validation and testing frameworks for 21 CFR Part 11-regulated automation environments — including IQ/OQ/PQ documentation standards, audit trail design, and electronic signature controls where applicable.
  • Drive HITRUST CSF and SOC 2 control mapping for the automation platform — partnering with Information Security, Compliance, and Internal Audit to satisfy control requirements and support certification activities.
  • Lead threat modeling and security architecture review for new automation integrations — especially those connecting to payer portals, external clearinghouses, or patient-facing systems.
  • Define and enforce data residency, data retention, and data minimization requirements for automation workflows that process PHI or PII.

AI, ML & Intelligent Automation Strategy

  • Architect the organization''s intelligent automation roadmap: defining how UiPath Document Understanding, AI Center, Process Mining, and GenAI/LLM capabilities integrate with the core RPA platform to create end-to-end intelligent workflows.
  • Design Document Understanding pipelines for healthcare document types — EOBs, remittance files, prior authorization letters, clinical notes, lab reports, referral documents, and UB-04/CMS-1500 claim forms — including ML model training, validation, and retraining governance.
  • Evaluate and architect AI Center ML model lifecycle management: model versioning, performance monitoring, drift detection, and retraining triggers for production healthcare automation use cases.
  • Assess the applicability of GenAI and LLM integration (UiPath Autopilot, Azure OpenAI, custom LLM APIs) to healthcare automation use cases — with particular attention to PHI handling, hallucination risk, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead Process Mining and Task Mining initiatives to discover, prioritize, and continuously monitor automation opportunities across clinical and operational workflows.

Technical Leadership & Thought Leadership

    • Serve as the top technical escalation point for the CoE — resolving complex architectural problems, production incidents involving systemic root causes, and cross-system integration failures that senior developers cannot resolve.
    • Partner with VP/Director-level stakeholders to translate automation capabilities into strategic roadmaps, business value narratives, and technology investment proposals.
    • Represent the automation CoE in enterprise architecture forums, IT governance bodies, and vendor executive briefings — articulating the automation platform strategy and its alignment with organizational goals.
