Quality Engineer - Failure Analysis


Location: Valencia, CA (Onsite)


Pay: $51/hour


Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer II to support product failure analysis, quality investigations, and post-market product performance in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role focuses on evaluating mechanical medical device components, developing test methods, and supporting investigation activities to ensure product quality and compliance.

Responsibilities


  • Conduct and review failure analysis investigations for returned and non-returned product complaints

  • Analyze mechanical device components to identify failure modes and determine root cause

  • Develop and validate test methods, procedures, and work instructions for laboratory investigations

  • Train and mentor technicians performing product analysis and testing

  • Review investigation results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality procedures

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and post-market teams to resolve product issues

  • Monitor product performance and escalate non-conformance issues when necessary

  • Prepare technical documentation and present investigation findings to cross-functional teams

  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions within document control systems

  • Lead or support non-conformance investigations and corrective action activities


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, failure analysis, or product investigations

  • Hands-on experience analyzing mechanical components or electromechanical systems

  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a laboratory environment

  • Experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments preferred

  • Familiarity with SAP, PowerBI, or complaint management systems preferred
