Description: Software Engineer (Contingent Assignment) - Phoenix, AZAbout the RoleIn this contingent role, you will partner with engineering and business stakeholders to drive high-impact software initiatives. You'll evaluate and solve complex engineering challenges that span large-scale systems, long-term technical strategy, and multi-team architectures. This role requires strong technical depth, an ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments, and the capability to influence cross-functional partners.
You will also provide technical consultation, contribute to solution design, and ensure alignment with engineering best practices, compliance standards, and organizational goals.
Responsibilities- Lead analysis and design for complex, large-scale software engineering initiatives.
- Evaluate multi-dimensional technical challenges, considering performance, scalability, compliance, and emerging technologies.
- Contribute to the development of robust, secure, and maintainable backend systems and services.
- Collaborate strategically with client teams to define requirements, influence technical decisions, and solve critical business problems.
- Build and integrate event-driven and data-driven components across distributed systems.
- Apply engineering best practices throughout the full development lifecycle.
Minimum Qualifications5+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience through work, consulting, training, military background, or education.
4+ years of hands-on Java development, including expertise with
Spring and
Spring Boot.
2+ years of Python experience, focused on backend or data-centric development.
Strong understanding of
Reactive Programming (e.g., WebFlux).
Practical experience with
Apache Kafka in event-driven architectures.
Experience using
Apache Flink for real-time stream processing or pipelines.
Proficiency with both
MongoDB (NoSQL) and
Oracle (RDBMS).
2+ years of experience building RESTful APIs.
Preferred Qualifications- 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure).
- Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic architectures, and prompt engineering.
- Familiarity with ADK, Playbook, or similar agent-based development frameworks.
