Director of Project Management - Job Overview
The Director of Project Management will provide strategic oversight for a high-volume, fast-paced creative production environment supporting tours, festivals, and national and regional marketing initiatives. This role focuses on optimizing workflows, strengthening Jira Atlassian systems, and driving data-informed decision-making at scale.
Partnering closely with Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders, the Director will assess current processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement system enhancements that improve efficiency, visibility, and accountability. This role requires strong technical fluency, leadership experience, and the ability to communicate operational insights at the business level.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Workflow Oversight
Conduct regular check-ins with Project Managers to assess progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement
Oversee project management at scale in a high-volume ticket environment (100+ tickets per day, primarily production-focused)
Provide oversight on longer-term, complex content and creative initiatives (e.g., major campaign assets, large-format creative, templates, multi-month projects)
Step in to provide continuity and oversight during Project Manager absences as needed
Jira Atlassian Systems & Data Leadership
Evaluate and optimize Jira Atlassian workflows, structure, and reporting
Lead system improvements to enhance usability, analytics, and operational insight
Support rollout and adoption of an upcoming enterprise Jira account and related tools
Strengthen reporting to provide deeper visibility into workload, performance, and execution metrics
Translate system data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
AI, Automation & Scalability
Thoughtfully incorporate AI into QA, automation, and task assignment (excluding AI-generated creative work)
Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency through system-driven solutions
Support future international coordination as workflows scale globally
Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as a senior liaison across creative, marketing, operations, and leadership teams
Ensure all marketing and creative work flows through standardized project management systems
Partner with stakeholders to understand pain points, priorities, and opportunities for improvement
Team Leadership & Creative Acumen
Lead and develop a small team (1 direct report initially, with potential to grow)
Provide steady leadership in a fast-paced environment
Bring strong creative judgment and an eye for quality without hands-on design execution
Must-Have Qualifications
Proven experience managing project management at scale
Experience leading and overseeing teams
Advanced expertise in Jira Atlassian or comparable enterprise PM tools (e.g., Asana)
Strong technical and systems-oriented background
Data-driven mindset with experience improving reporting and analytics
Practical understanding of AI in operational and automation contexts
Continuous learner focused on improving tools, systems, and processes
