Job Title: Senior UX Researcher
Location: 100% Remote
Contract Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of Extension/Conversion)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST
Role Overview
Join the Human-Centered Design (HCD) Practice at one of the leading financial institutions. As a Design Researcher, you will be responsible for the user experience of customer- and employee-facing digital touchpoints across banking, investing, and insurance platforms. You will enable evidence-based strategy and design decisions through rigorous human factors research and the skillful communication of findings.
Key Accountabilities
Research Design & Preparation: Define research questions, select appropriate methodologies (observation, diary studies, interviews), and create participant screeners and research protocols.
Data Collection & Analysis: Conduct usability testing, card sorting, and ethnography using both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
Roadmapping: Collaborate with Product and Business stakeholders to determine study priorities and timelines.
Reporting: Translate complex data into easily understandable insights and artifacts, including experience maps, usability test reports, and personas.
Collaboration: Act as the link between Research, Design, and Business partners to ensure research aligns with strategic goals.
Candidate Profile Requirements
Must-Have Hard Skills:
Methodology: Deep foundational knowledge of User-Centered Design (UCD) and Human Factors research methods.
Communication: Exceptional written, oral, and graphical skills to craft impactful insights for executive stakeholders.
Tools: Knowledge of Figma is required.
Project Management: Proven ability to balance tasks across multiple simultaneous studies and create future study roadmaps.
Education & Experience:
Degree: Undergraduate degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Computer Science, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
Years of Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in design research.
Soft Skills:
Incredible attention to detail.
Strong collaborative skills across cross-functional groups.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:
Financial Industry: Prior experience working within Banking or Insurance.
Tools: Experience with UserTesting.com.
Statistics: Knowledge of inferential statistics and familiarity with analysis software (R, SAS, or SPSS).
