Senior Project Manager with Technical Writer experience
Location: Sacramento, CA
Duration: Multi-Year Contract
Position Description
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and coordinate large-scale web modernization, GIS, reporting, and application support initiatives for a public-sector infrastructure program. The project manager will oversee project planning, delivery management, stakeholder coordination, risk management, and governance activities across multiple technical teams and vendors.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing enterprise technology projects involving web applications, GIS solutions, reporting systems, accessibility compliance, and application modernization efforts within transportation, infrastructure, or public-sector environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project planning, execution, scheduling, and delivery activities.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including GIS, development, BI/reporting, architecture, and support teams.
Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.
Facilitate stakeholder meetings, status reporting, and executive communications.
Track project milestones, deliverables, budgets, and resource utilization.
Support governance, compliance, and quality assurance activities.
Coordinate vendor activities and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Support modernization initiatives involving web applications, GIS platforms, reporting systems, and accessibility compliance.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of project/program management experience.
Experience managing enterprise IT or application modernization projects.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience with SDLC, Agile, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams simultaneously.
Experience with project reporting, governance, and risk management.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, or public-sector programs.
Exposure to GIS/web application projects.
Familiarity with accessibility compliance standards (ADA/WCAG).
PMP certification preferred.
