Description: About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to lead the design, development, and analysis of advanced aerospace guidance and control systems. This role involves developing flight algorithms, simulation environments, trajectory analysis solutions, and system-level integration activities for highly complex aerospace platforms. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, verification, and testing of GNC algorithms and software.
- Develop and maintain Six Degree of Freedom (6DoF) simulations used for flight system analysis and validation.
- Design and evaluate guidance, navigation, and control solutions for aerospace systems.
- Perform trajectory analysis, mission performance assessments, and optimization studies.
- Develop mathematical models, control laws, and state estimation algorithms.
- Integrate and validate flight software with hardware and simulation environments.
- Define performance metrics and evaluate system effectiveness against requirements.
- Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and verification activities.
- Present technical findings, risks, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
- Improve software performance, maintainability, and reliability using modern engineering practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, testing, and operations.
Must-Have Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 12+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR
- 10+ years with a Master's degree, OR
- 8+ years with a PhD.
- Strong experience in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems.
- Experience with aerospace, missile, autonomous, spacecraft, aircraft, or launch vehicle systems.
- Proficiency in C++ development.
- Experience using MATLAB/Simulink or MATLAB-based analysis tools.
- Experience developing, modeling, simulating, integrating, or testing complex systems.
- Experience working within Linux development environments.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications- Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Six Degree of Freedom (6DoF) simulation development experience.
- Kalman Filter and Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) experience.
- Guidance system design and implementation.
- Control systems expertise including:
- PID Control
- LQR
- State estimation techniques
- Rigid body dynamics modeling.
- Hypersonics experience.
- Python programming experience.
- Experience with Atlassian Jira.
- Knowledge of modern software engineering practices including version control and CI/CD.
- GPS anti-jam, M-Code, navigation system tuning, and flight software experience.
