Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule (Every Other Friday Off)

About the Role

seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer to support the development of advanced missile, hypersonic, launch vehicle, and aerospace systems. The selected engineer will lead the design, development, modeling, simulation, integration, and performance assessment of advanced GNC algorithms, seeker tracking solutions, and flight software supporting mission-critical national defense programs.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex aerospace challenges involving target tracking, seeker modeling, state estimation, control system design, and six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) flight simulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement, test, and validate advanced Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) algorithms.
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity 6-DOF simulations supporting missile, launch vehicle, and aerospace applications.
  • Design and optimize guidance laws, control systems, and trajectory management solutions.
  • Develop seeker, sensor, and target tracking models for end-to-end mission performance assessment.
  • Perform system-level analysis, modeling, simulation, integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Support flight software development using C++ and MATLAB/Simulink in Linux-based environments.
  • Conduct trade studies, performance assessments, Monte Carlo analyses, and mission effectiveness evaluations.
  • Develop and implement state estimation techniques, including Kalman Filtering and Extended Kalman Filtering.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting software, systems, hardware, and flight test efforts.
  • Present technical findings, recommendations, risks, and performance metrics to program leadership and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across GNC work packages.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM discipline with 8+ years of experience; OR
  • Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience; OR
  • PhD with 4+ years of experience.
Required Technical Skills
  • Strong experience with Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) systems, algorithms, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong programming experience in C++.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, missile, launch vehicle, spacecraft, autonomous, or defense systems.
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, integration, verification, and testing activities.
  • Familiarity with software development in Linux environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and maintaining 6-DOF flight simulations.
  • Knowledge of missile guidance systems and precision intercept algorithms.
  • Experience with Kalman Filters, Extended Kalman Filters (EKF), and state estimation techniques.
  • Experience with PID, LQR, and advanced control system design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of rigid body dynamics, flight mechanics, and control theory.
  • Experience with seeker modeling, target tracking, sensor fusion, and measurement processing.
  • Experience supporting hypersonic, missile defense, or advanced aerospace programs.
  • Knowledge of line-of-sight (LOS) guidance, tracking filters, and trajectory optimization.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development environments.
  • Experience leading technical efforts and mentoring junior engineers.
