Position: Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer

Location: Chandler, AZ

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, implementation, verification, and testing of advanced GNC algorithms and flight software.

Develop and maintain high-fidelity 6-DoF simulations to support algorithm development, validation, and performance analysis.

Design, analyze, and evaluate guidance, navigation, and control systems for aerospace applications.

Develop seeker models, target tracking algorithms, state estimation techniques, and guidance/control laws.

Perform system modelling, simulation, integration, and trade studies to optimize performance and reliability.

Define performance metrics and conduct flight performance assessments.

Support hardware/software integration activities and verification testing.

Optimize simulation and flight software for robustness, maintainability, and computational efficiency.

Conduct trajectory analyses and trade studies using engineering tools and simulation environments.

Present technical findings, risks, recommendations, and program status updates to engineering leadership and stakeholders.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful system development and mission execution.

Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with 5+ years of professional experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years of experience; OR PhD.

Hands-on experience with Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) concepts, algorithms, modelling, simulation, analysis, or testing for aerospace, missile, spacecraft, or autonomous systems.

Experience contributing to or leading development, integration, verification, testing, simulation, or analysis activities for complex aerospace systems.

Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, C++, Python, or similar technical software tools.

Experience working in Linux-based development environments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Strong background in control systems theory, flight software, and guidance law development.

Experience with state estimation and nonlinear filtering techniques, including:

Kalman Filter (KF)

Extended Kalman Filter (EKF)

Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF)

Experience with target tracking, seeker systems, and sensor modelling.

Knowledge of infrared (IR) and/or radio frequency (RF) seeker technologies.

Experience developing and validating target dynamics and measurement models within 6-Degree-of-Freedom (6-DoF) simulations.

Familiarity with guidance and control methodologies such as PID, LQR, and advanced missile guidance algorithms.

Experience with line-of-sight (LOS) tracking, range/range-rate estimation, and angle-only tracking techniques.

Knowledge of multi-target tracking, data association, track initiation, and track maintenance algorithms.

Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical work packages.

Familiarity with software development tools and processes, including Jira, version control systems, and continuous integration workflows.
