Product Owner - Job Description

The Product Owner is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering digital product capabilities, including external portals, internal applications, and emerging technology solutions. This role focuses on creating measurable business and customer value by owning product vision, managing roadmaps and backlogs, and ensuring successful delivery and adoption of digital solutions.

The Product Owner works closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional delivery partners to translate business needs into actionable product work. Serving as the primary bridge between business and technology, this role balances strategic objectives with execution to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Ownership
  • Own and maintain prioritized product roadmaps and backlogs based on value, strategic alignment, dependencies, and delivery effort.
  • Collaborate with leadership, stakeholders, and technology partners to define and continuously refine product vision and direction.
  • Ensure alignment between business objectives, user needs, operational priorities, and overall enterprise strategy.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as the primary liaison between business and technical teams.
  • Lead and participate in working sessions to gather, refine, and validate requirements across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Translate business needs into clear product goals, user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.

Delivery Execution & Adoption
  • Coordinate closely with project teams, program leadership, change management, and technical delivery teams to plan and manage timelines.
  • Support user readiness and change adoption to ensure solutions are effectively implemented.
  • Maintain end-to-end accountability for product delivery outcomes.

Agile Delivery & Continuous Improvement
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
  • Maintain a healthy, actionable backlog and provide ongoing clarity to delivery teams throughout the sprint lifecycle.

Measurement, Communication & Risk Management
  • Measure and evaluate success using customer feedback, operational metrics, and business value realization.
  • Communicate progress, risks, issues, decisions, and trade-offs clearly and consistently to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and manage delivery risks and dependencies.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with delivery teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities
  • Ability to gather, translate, and communicate requirements across both technical and business audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting digital platforms or web-based applications
  • Exposure to regulated or complex business environments
  • Background working with external-facing portals, directories, or customer-facing systems
