The Mechanical CAD Drafter is responsible for the preparation, revision, and maintenance of natural gas piping facility drawings. This contract position performs drafting services in accordance with the standards procedures, and direction established by the DTE Gas Transmission Drafting staff.
Key Accountabilities
- Create and revise 2D CAD drawings using AutoCAD
- Create and revise 3D models using AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Ensure compliance with company file management systems, CAD standards, and drafting procedures
- Attend project meetings as required
- Attend site visits for field measurements and project investigations throughout the state of Michigan
- Perform quality assurance self-checks on all assigned drafting deliverables
Minimum Experience Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience in mechanical process piping, including the following connection types: Welded, Flanged and Threaded
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and/or 3D CAD software
- Proficiency in developing plan and section views, details, material lists, and one-line schematics
- Experience with Autodesk ReCap Pro point cloud software (preferred but not required)
Additional Requirements
- Experience working in industrial gas processing facilities, refinery facilities, and/or nuclear facilities
- Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Understanding of isometric and schematic drawings
- Michigan residency required
- Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to interpret and/or prepare field sketches and photographs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint
Additional Information
- Strictly eight hours a day, forty-hour work week, Monday through Friday, no overtime.
- Start times can be the following: 6:30 AM; 7:00 AM; 7:30 AM; 8:00 AM; 8:30 AM
- Lunch breaks can be 30 minutes to one hour
- PPE for site visits is NOT provided by DTE
- Computer equipment will be supplied by DTE
Note: Preferred contract staff report to DTE Headquarters: One Energy Plaza, Detroit, MI, 48226. Alternative DTE reporting location is an option but at times require contract staff to report to the DTE Headquarters without reimbursement of mileage and drive time or any overnight lodging.
