Job#: 3024110 Job Description: This position will support our client's Civil/Structural Engineering team. This role involves field inspections, laser scanning, reporting, and producing 3D/2D engineering deliverables to help ensure the safety, reliability, and compliance of structural assets.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and register laser scan data using tripod-mounted scanners to support engineering and design teams.
- Perform site inspections and walkdowns of concrete and steel industrial structures; classify findings and prepare clear, timely inspection reports.
- Develop scopes of work and time estimates for structural inspection activities.
- Collaborate with engineers to identify and document noncompliant structural or safety issues.
- Create 3D models and extract 2D drawings for engineering deliverables and inspection report attachments.
- Produce AutoCAD drawings for steel and concrete structures in industrial or commercial environments.
- Prepare layouts, general arrangement drawings, conceptual designs, material takeoffs, and assist with cost estimating.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, suppliers, contractors, and construction personnel to support project execution.
Education & Experience- Minimum 5 years of experience performing site walkdowns and writing technical reports.
- Experience designing or detailing concrete and steel structures in heavy industrial or power generation settings is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training (OSHA, MSHA, structural inspections) preferred.
- Proficiency in writing technical reports in Microsoft Word and maintaining findings in databases.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Experience with laser scanning techniques and registration workflows.
- Ability to inspect structures and material-handling equipment for damage, deterioration, serviceability, and safety compliance.
- Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks, Advance Steel, FARO SCENE (2023-2025), and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to perform inspections at extreme heights or in man baskets (certified operators provided).
- Strong understanding of site safety requirements, including PPE, fall protection, confined space procedures, and respirator use.
- Background in construction or fabrication preferred.
- Knowledge of structural design codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
