Position: Database Administrator

Location: Remote

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Oracle databases, AWS cloud services, and on-premises to cloud migration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our database environments, ensuring data integrity, and leading the migration of on-premises databases to the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
Plan, execute, and manage the migration of on-premises databases to AWS cloud environments.
Design and implement database solutions in AWS, leveraging services such as RDS, DMS, EC2, S3, and others.
Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for databases.
Ensure database security by implementing best practices for access control, encryption, and auditing.
Collaborate with development and operations teams to support database-related needs and optimize application performance.
Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices to continuously improve database management processes.
Participate in afterhours deployments
Participate in weekly on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, AWS Certified Database - Specialty) are a plus.
Experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on Oracle databases, Golden Gate, OEM, RMAN.
Proven experience with AWS cloud services, including RDS, EC2, S3, and VPC.
Demonstrated experience in migrating on-premises databases to AWS cloud environments.
Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL for database management and optimization.
Strong understanding of database security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery best practices.
Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is a plus.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, or Python.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong communication skills and the ability to document procedures clearly for both technical staff and end-users.
