W2 Contract-to-Hire, 12 Months
This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be comfortable working onsite once per week at Columbia, MD. This may ultimately become twice per week dependent on changes in business requirements.
Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Platform Systems Engineer to join the infrastructure team of a large health insurance provider. This team manages the infrastructure supporting a critical claims processing application, ensuring the system operates efficiently and securely. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in systems engineering and a strong background in monitoring tools, particularly Dynatrace. Responsibilities include:
Managing and maintaining the infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, networking, firewalls, load balancers, and IAM.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts in networking, security, and API integrations.
Utilizing Dynatrace for infrastructure and application monitoring, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to SFTP, APIs, and MQ messaging systems in coordination with specialized teams.
Navigating Linux environments to perform maintenance, reboots, and patching.
Supporting integration and debugging activities across firewalls, DNS, and load balancers.
Assisting with automation tasks using tools like Jenkins for scheduling and managing application processes.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor s degree and 5+ years of systems engineering experience in managing infrastructure and applications.
Proficiency with Dynatrace for monitoring infrastructure and applications.
Knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addresses, DNS, and firewall rules.
Hands-on experience with Linux for system maintenance and debugging.
Understanding of APIs (REST, SOAP), SFTP, and MQ messaging.
Experience with automation tools such as Jenkins for scheduling tasks.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience with cloud migration projects using AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with load balancers and their impact on application architecture.
Knowledge of Jira and Kanban boards for tracking project tasks and progress.
