SAP S/4HANA Embedded Extended Warehouse Management (EWM): Technical Configuration for Utilities is an intensive five-day programme for SAP functional consultants and technical configurators responsible for implementing and supporting Embedded EWM in a compliance sensitive, maintenance-driven utility environment. Working exclusively in SPRO and related technical tools, participants configure a complete warehouse from the ground up warehouse structure, master data, serialisation profiles, POSC chains, wave management, RF framework, and cross-module integration with MM, QM, and PM/EAM and validate their work through a full end-to-end scenario on Day 5. Every module is grounded in utility-specific requirements: compliance zones for high-voltage and hazardous items, serialised tool tracking, maintenance-driven staging and consumption, and audit-ready monitoring. The course concludes with a handover-ready configuration blueprint suitable for operations and support teams.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Warehouse structure and master data configure warehouse numbers, storage types, sections, bins, and activity areas in SPRO, including dedicated compliance zones for hazardous and high-voltage items and assign the structure correctly to plant and storage locations.
EWM master data and serial profiles maintain EWM product master data including putaway and removal strategies, stock type controls, and HU/packing specifications, and configure serial number profiles in MM with correct technical mapping across EWM and QM for end-to-end serialised handling.
Core MM/EWM integration set up delivery document integration between MM/IM and Embedded EWM, including warehouse request and document type mapping, copy controls, and number ranges for inbound and internal processes.
Inbound process and POSC configuration configure inbound delivery and item types,
HU types and packing profiles for serialised tools, and design a full Process- Oriented Storage Control (POSC) chain covering GR zone, QM inspection, deconsolidation, and putaway with correct work centre and process step
assignment.
Serialisation across MM QM EWM map serial number profiles for cross-component behaviour, configure serial capture at each POSC step and internal stock movement, and troubleshoot misconfigured serial handling.
Outbound, staging, and wave management configure warehouse requests and item types for PM/EAM maintenance reservations, define staging areas and methods, build wave templates with PM-linked assignment and release rules, and configure picking strategies including FIFO and serial-driven picking for high-voltage stock types.
RF mobile framework implement RF device profiles, logical transactions, function codes, resource types, queue assignments, and custom RF menus with error handling for maintenance warehouse operator roles.
Compliance monitoring customise Warehouse Monitor nodes and exception codes to support auditability and compliance reporting for serialised and high-voltage inventory.
End-to-end integration and handover execute a full cross-module scenario from procurement through EWM inbound, QM, PM order staging, consumption, returns, and physical inventory reconciliation, and produce a configuration blueprint covering warehouse structure, integration points, RF setup, and monitoring design for operational handover.
