Description
We are looking for a technically strong 3D Modeler to support product design and engineering efforts in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone with deep SolidWorks expertise and a practical understanding of design for manufacturing, with a focus on precise modeling and production-ready documentation rather than early-stage concept development. The role suits a drafter or design engineer who is comfortable working onsite and collaborating closely with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into accurate 3D models and visual outputs.
Responsibilities:
Create detailed 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks for components and products intended for manufacturing.
Produce accurate drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation that align with engineering standards and fabrication needs.
Refine existing designs to improve manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, and overall technical performance.
Partner with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to interpret design inputs and convert them into build-ready models.
Develop renderings and visual materials to help communicate design intent, structure, and functionality.
Maintain organized model files, revisions, and design records to support efficient project execution and updates.
Apply drafting and design engineering principles to ensure models meet technical, quality, and production expectations.
Requirements
Proven experience creating complex 3D models and technical drawings in SolidWorks.
Strong knowledge of design for manufacturing principles and production-oriented engineering practices.
Background in drafting, design engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Ability to work in a hands-on onsite environment and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
Experience with 3D design, rendering, and visualization tools such as 3D Studio Max is preferred.
Solid understanding of dimensions, tolerances, materials, and documentation required for manufacturing.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate, technically sound design files.
Innovation starts with people.
