About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Interoperability Consultant to support healthcare data integration and interoperability initiatives for a long-term remote contract. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with healthcare interoperability standards, troubleshooting data integrations, log analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support historical data loads and downstream validation activities across DEV, TEST, and UAT environments.

  • Perform first-level troubleshooting for data ingestion, persistence, and processing issues involving FHIR, HL7 v2, and CCD/C-CDA data flows.

  • Analyze logs, transaction details, job outputs, and system behavior to determine root causes related to:

    • Source data

    • ETL processes

    • System configurations

    • Infrastructure behavior

    • Alerting issues

    • Custom code

  • Create detailed Jira tickets with clear reproduction steps, business impact, affected environments, timestamps, supporting evidence, and recommended routing.

  • Partner with technical leads and developers to investigate issues involving custom code, preprocessing logic, data transformations, and environment-specific behavior.

  • Work closely with Product teams to document suspected defects and product enhancement opportunities with sufficient technical detail.

  • Collaborate with QA teams to identify recurring issues, improve regression testing, and support automation initiatives.

  • Coordinate with Cloud Operations and Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot:

    • Performance issues

    • Environment stability

    • CPU utilization

    • Node pressure

    • Deployment-related problems

    • Logging and monitoring concerns

  • Utilize command-line tools and basic scripting to validate files, compare outputs, and accelerate troubleshooting.

  • Leverage approved AI-assisted tools (including Claude, where permitted) to improve troubleshooting efficiency, documentation, and evidence organization while following established review processes.

  • Escalate issues appropriately while maintaining ownership through proper documentation and successful handoff.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be based in the United States and eligible to access client systems in accordance with security requirements.

  • Experience working with healthcare interoperability standards, including:

    • FHIR

    • HL7 v2

    • CCD/C-CDA

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Log analysis

    • Command-line tools

    • Basic ETL scripting

    • File validation

    • Issue reproduction and troubleshooting

  • Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications and collaborating with Infrastructure/CloudOps teams.

  • Strong documentation skills, including Jira ticket creation, defect reporting, issue tracking, and status updates.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with distributed technical teams.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

  • Experience supporting Healthcare Integration or Interoperability platforms.

  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows, APIs, and data exchange processes.

  • Experience with AI-assisted productivity tools for technical documentation and analysis.
