These resources will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data extracts within the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. They will also translate clinical/operational needs into actionable data insights, requiring strong SQL skills, data modeling, and Epic certification to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Data Extraction & Analysis: Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from Clarity and Caboodle for analytical use.
Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with clinical and business stakeholders to identify reporting needs and translate them into technical specifications.
System Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize reporting performance and ensure data accuracy.
Data Governance: Ensure compliance with data security and governance standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Epic Certification: Current certification in Healthy Planet or Compass Rose is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL, relational database management, and data warehousing concepts.
Data Tools: Experience with reporting tools like Caboodle, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau, or Power BI.
Healthcare Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare data, workflows, and EHR systems.
Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Typical Daily Activities
- Meeting with stakeholders to define requirements for new reports.
- Writing and tuning SQL queries.
- Developing dashboards and data extracts.
- Troubleshooting data validation issues and verifying report accuracy.
- Participating in upgrades and testing new Epic functionality.
