Systems Applications AdministratorAbout the RoleOur direct client is seeking a Systems Applications Administrator to join our Digital Solutions team, focusing on Application Monitoring and Automation. In this senior-level role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of our online banking platforms hosted in data centers and cloud environments.
You will leverage advanced monitoring tools and automation frameworks to proactively detect and resolve issues, enabling our support teams to respond swiftly and effectively. Your work will directly impact the stability and security of mission-critical applications, requiring close collaboration across multiple technical teams.
Key Responsibilities- Monitoring & Analysis: Utilize tools such as Splunk, ExtraHop, and Dynatrace to monitor application performance and generate actionable insights.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts using Python, PowerShell, Selenium, WebDriver, and JMeter to automate monitoring and remediation tasks.
- Cloud Integration: Apply your knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) to optimize monitoring strategies for cloud-hosted applications.
- API Management: Implement and manage API integrations in distributed environments to enhance observability and system interoperability.
- Alert Optimization: Reduce alert noise by fine-tuning thresholds and eliminating false positives, ensuring high-quality, relevant notifications.
- Incident Support: Provide expert assistance during high-severity outages and participate in an on-call rotation to support critical deployments and system changes.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices, mentoring peers and contributing to a culture of innovation and learning.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Windows Systems Engineering or Application Support.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Application Monitoring and Observability.
- Strong expertise in Splunk, PowerShell, and/or Python.
- Experience with IIS, Windows environments, and multi-tiered applications.
- Proficiency in analyzing web logs, HTTP headers, and web services.
- Solid understanding of API integration in distributed systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and adaptable to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with ExtraHop, Dynatrace, Moogsoft, or similar monitoring tools.
- Certifications or hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency in Selenium, WebDriver, and JMeter.
- Experience integrating cloud technologies with SIEM and monitoring tools.
