Summary

Seeking a senior-level SharePoint expert to lead the design, governance, and evolution of a global SharePoint Online environment. This position blends enterprise information architecture, governance leadership, hands-on SharePoint Framework (SPFx) development, and administration of M365 backup and recovery solutions. The role focuses on building scalable content structures, enforcing compliance and data protection standards, improving search and discoverability, and exploring AI-driven knowledge management capabilities across Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

Information Architecture & Content Strategy

  • Design and oversee the enterprise SharePoint Online structure, including site hierarchies, hub models, metadata frameworks, and content types.

  • Establish standardized taxonomy and metadata strategies aligned with organizational functions.

  • Perform large-scale content audits to eliminate redundant or outdated information and improve content quality.

  • Create intuitive navigation, search configurations, and metadata-driven content organization.

  • Define policies for site creation, naming conventions, lifecycle management, and retirement processes.

Governance, Compliance & Data Protection

  • Lead governance initiatives including access control reviews, permissions cleanup, external sharing policies, and storage oversight.

  • Execute large-scale remediation efforts to standardize permissions and restore inheritance where needed.

  • Configure and optimize Microsoft Purview capabilities such as sensitivity labels, retention policies, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP).

  • Implement adaptive governance policies based on metadata and user or site attributes.

  • Collaborate with legal, security, and compliance teams to meet regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, GDPR).

  • Develop governance documentation, training materials, and enablement programs for site owners and content stewards.

  • Track and report on governance metrics such as compliance rates, label adoption, DLP incidents, and storage utilization.

  • Design retention and records management strategies aligned to legal and business needs.

  • Manage DLP policies and workflows to prevent data leakage and ensure effective incident handling.

SPFx Development & Custom Solutions

  • Develop and deploy custom SharePoint Framework components using React, TypeScript, and Microsoft Graph APIs.

  • Build reusable components, templates, and branded site experiences following accessibility standards.

  • Integrate SharePoint solutions with services such as Power Automate, Dataverse, and Azure to deliver business applications.

  • Utilize PnP tools and provisioning frameworks to standardize and accelerate deployments.

  • Oversee the application lifecycle including version control, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and releases.

M365 Backup & Recovery Administration

  • Manage enterprise M365 backup solutions, including configuration, monitoring, and recovery processes across key workloads.

  • Define backup and retention policies aligned with compliance and business continuity requirements.

  • Execute and validate recovery operations, ensuring recovery objectives are consistently met.

  • Monitor system performance, storage usage, and backup success rates; provide reporting for audit purposes.

  • Maintain vendor relationships, licensing, and platform upgrades.

Skills

  • Extensive experience with SharePoint Online in enterprise environments, including leadership or architecture roles.

  • Strong background in SPFx development with React, TypeScript, and Microsoft Graph.

  • Deep knowledge of metadata, taxonomy design, enterprise search, and modern SharePoint architecture.

  • Proficiency in governance automation using PnP PowerShell and provisioning tools.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including retention policies, sensitivity labels, adaptive scopes, and DLP.

  • Expertise in permissions management, access governance, and tenant-level administration.

  • Familiarity with M365 backup platforms such as AvePoint, Veeam, or similar tools.

  • Solid understanding of modern web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and REST APIs.

  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks, records management, and data protection best practices.

  • Experience with AI-driven tools for content discovery (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot) is advantageous.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
